chapter 6 vocab pt 1

Faltering- to hesitate or waver in action, purpose, intent, etc.; give way.
Automatons- a mechanical figure or contrivance constructed to act as if by its own motive power; robot.
Midst-the position of anything surrounded by other things or parts, or occurring in the middle of a period of time, course of action
Famished- to suffer or cause to suffer extreme hunger; starve.
Parched- to make extremely, excessively, or completely dry, as heat, sun, and wind do.
Indeterminate-not determinate; not precisely fixed in extent; indefinite; uncertain.
Illusion- something that deceives by producing a false or misleading impression of reality.
Condemned- to express an unfavorable or adverse judgment on; indicate strong disapproval of; censure.
