Night Chapter 8 Vocabulary.

Emerged- to come forth into view or notice, as from concealment or obscurity
hillock -A small hill.
timid -lacking in self-assurance, courage, or bravery; easily alarmed; timorous; shy.
tiers -one of a series of rows or ranks rising one behind or above another, as of seats in an amphitheater, boxes in a theater, guns in a man-of-war, or oars in an ancient galley
Beseeching- to implore urgently
livid -having a discolored, bluish appearance caused by a bruise, congestion of blood vessels, strangulation
Dysentery- an infectious disease marked by inflammation and ulceration of the lower part of the bowels, with diarrhea that becomes mucous and hemorrhagic
invalids -an infirm or sickly person
feverish -having fever
Spasmodically- pertaining to or of the nature of a spasm; characterized by spasms.
summons -an authoritative command, message, or signal by which one is summoned.
Conscience- the inner sense of what is right or wrong in one's conduct or motives, impelling one toward right action:
delirious -affected with or characteristic of delirium
pleaded -to appeal or entreat earnestly
Cauldrons- a large kettle or boiler.
